Hubnugget Wars
The Hubmugget Wars, actually it's just a contest but there are some fierce competitors every week and so the race is on for this weeks contest.
The categories for this week are, Home, Health and Pets, and we have some great hubs in the contest. I wish everyone good luck as everyone votes for their favorite hubs.
What Hubnuggets Means to Me.
A couple years back when I first joined Hubpages, I didn't have a clue as to what a hubnugget was or even where I could get one!
Something happened a couple months in that really change my perspective on a lot of things for me. I decided to write a hub about my experience and I wrote the hub, Why Has The Elderly Lost Societies Respect? I was in a supermarket and had a run in with a person who was in my eyes, mistreating an elderly woman and it really got under my skin. I wrote the hub and low and behold, I got an email telling me that my hub was nominated for a hubnugget. I was thrilled even though I didn't know what it was even; well I caught on quick and to my surprise my hub won. It was actually nominated twice and I won once. I was over joyed, not so much that I had won but because so many people were exposed to my hub and I never considered that my hub could actually be read by so many people, it was overwhelming but exciting. That hub remains to be my most viewed and commented hub ever to date. It is also one of my favorite hubs because of the passion that it brought out in me.
Winning the contest was a validation that I could express myself in a way that would attract readers and I don't know if I would even still be on Hubpages had it not been for that win. It made such an impression on me and I stuck around very encouraged to keep writing. I also knew that I wanted to be part of the Hubnugget crew as soon as I could and although I am grateful for being a part of the team, I'm often humbled by the other writers on the Hubnugget team because sometimes I feel inferior as they crank out the most creative hubs week after week. Good job guys.
The Hubnugget World We Live In
Sometimes this world of ours can be a very scary place. Sometimes awful things happen to very good people. More often than not horrendous things happen to innocent people as well. The innocents of this world sometimes are the ones that are left shattered by the actions of people in society that have no regard for their fellow man. There is no excuse, nor explanation as to why crazy people do crazy things, why anyone would take pleasure at someone else's pain. We sit and wonder at the aftermath of atrocities that are plaguing our society more and more day after day.
As a new day dawns and America is celebrating in England at the Olympics today, let us also take a minute to remember the lives lost in yet another tragedy that fell upon Colorado. R.I.P.
" Happiness and strength endure only in the absence of hate. To hate alone is the road to disaster. To love is the road to strength. To love in spite of all is the secret of greatness, and may very well be the greatest secret in the universe". L. Ron Hubbard.
